New roads and a new resort in Portugal – bookings open now!
“This year will be the 10th in a row we spend on the Algarve coast’s amazing gravel roads, and it is now time for a proper update! A predominant part of the routes will be changed for the 2021 tours. Some of the days we will ride further north and east, where the landscape changes and new exciting challenges are waiting. We will also be staying at a new resort only 10 min walk from the picturesque town of Carvoeiro with all its cozy restaurants. Our new 5-star Resort offer the highest level of both food and accommodation and is only a few kilometers from the beautiful beaches of the Algarve.
|This tour goes on the Algarve coast in the south of Portugal. Our daily rides are 150-250 kilometers of gravel roads but also a few curvy asphalt stages. Many of the stages we ride have been used both by the Dakar Rally and by the WRC-rally over the years. We dare to say that this area of Portugal offers some of the best gravel roads in the world! Along the way, we will be passing lemon and orange groves, cork oaks, deep valleys and high mountains with fantastic views over the Atlantic Ocean. At least two tour guides always guide you on their motorcycles, and a support vehicle is always nearby.|
When our trips are arranged, the daytime temperature is usually between 15-25 degrees Celsius — the perfect temperature for riding motorcycle. The days typically offer sunshine from clear blue skies. The roads are mainly easy to ride with unlimited possibilities for more advanced options for the ones who wishes that. You don´t really need any experience of gravel/offroad riding to join these tours since rider training is included. We split in to two or three riding groups to cover everyone’s previous riding experience.
All week we stay at the same nice 5 star SPA-resort within walking distance to the picturesque village och Carvoeiro and some of Algarve’s most beautiful beaches.

The roads are mainly easy to ride with the possibility of more advanced passages for those who wish. You absolutely do not have to be a master of gravel/offroad riding to join this journey. We split the group into one Basic and one Advanced. We then ride manly the same roads, but when the opportunity is given, the Advanced group rides tougher passages. I you like even more challenges than this, we dare to promise you that our tourguides will grant your wishes also for this! During the days you have several possibilities to change group if you like. The riding is led by BMW Motorrad certified tour guide.
Throughout the tour we stay at a 5 star SPA resort within walking distance to the picturesque village och Carvoeiro and some of Algarve’s most beautiful beaches. The resort holds a high class of food and accommodation and is only a stone’s throw from the Atlantic coast.
We live in nice apartments/suites. Here you will find all facilities such as kitchen, TV, bath, AC and free WiFi. In addition to the jacuzzi, SPA facility and gym at the Resort, there are many activities nearby such as water sports, horse riding, golf, bike rental, shopping and bars in Carvoeiro and beautiful walks along the cliffs of the Algarve coast.
During our tours rider training is always included and in Portugal we have dedicated a whole day to this. We focus first and foremost on getting to know the motorcycles as well as repeating important skills like braking and cornering. Then we move on with exercises that prepares you for the week like up- and down hills. We spit in to groped depending on previous riding skills and if you for example have been with us in Portugal before or participate in our training’s in Sweden, so everyone gets perfect challenge. Rider training is led by a BMW Motorrad certified instructor. Throughout the week, you will also get continuous feedback from our instructors.
At more difficult passages, we work as a team, help each other out and get through together. We dare promise that you are a better and safer rider after a tour with us! Or as many participants say “this was actually a full week of rider training” due to all the feedback and challenges.

Arrival day. Transfer from Algarve/Faro airport, transfer to resort, dinner and information.
If you arrive early this day, we recommend that you explore the beautiful nature around the resort. In the evening we have dinner and go through the week’s arrangement.
We meet up in the morning and start with a presentation of ourselves and the motorcycles. After the bikes are set up we have a 250km tour, manly on rod, ahead of us. The first 100km is an easy ride to Sagres and Sao Vicente at Portugal’s southwestern tip. After a quick coffee break, we ride towards mount Moncique on really curvy roads. After lunch, we reach the top at close to 1000 meters and if the weather is with us we have an incredible view of both Portugal’s south and west coast. From the top, an equally curvy road takes us back to the resort.
On Monday we dedicate ourselves to rider training on our training area about 20 km from the resort. Here we have big gravel areas, up and down hills in all sizes, water crossings and much more! During the morning it is a refreshment of, eg. body position, lifting the bike, braking technique and cornering that apply. In the afternoon, we primarily focus on how we safely get us up and down hills and through water crossings. Guaranteed a long and hard day, but your riding skills will significantly improve and you will be well prepared for the week!
The first real “gravel day” begins in itself with an hour or so on asphalt to Sao Marcos de Serra and then goes primarily on easy-to-ride gravel roads in changing terrain. Around lunch, there is the possibility for some more exciting offroad in some deep valleys and along winding forest roads. After lunch and some faster asphalt curves, we head into the eucalyptus trees for today’s final gravel stretches.
A day with a big variety of roads. Starts with a some km of transport through smaller villages and orange groves before we head for the gravel. After the first coffee break, we split into a Basic and an Advanced group. Routes manly the same but the Advanced group rides over the exciting mountains instead of around them. During the morning we pass, among other things. the infamous “Steijer-hill” which always offers a spectacular show for both riders and spectators. The rest of the day offers a number of (usually) smaller water crossings and ends with some curvy gravel roads that turns into a really nice and twisty asphalt bits.
Another fascinating day that after a some km of asphalt continues on the so-called “Källviks tour” where there may be some water in the rivers we pass. In dry weather, we have some exciting advanced slopes for those who wish, on wet days, parts of the Advance passages will be almost impossible, but only almost! After lunch, we get some altitude and nice asphalt stretches through a wind farm. In the afternoon we ride along one of our favorite roads, the so-called “red ridge” that rises over the lush landscape. Definitely an intense gravel experience on a big adventure bike!
Friday offers a slightly shorter but amazing tour in very varied landscape. We ride on everything from larger, faster gravel roads to narrow, almost grown over, forest roads. Airy mountain ridges and lush valleys replace each other, and with a little luck, we can enjoy the sea view during lunch. When we slowly move towards the resort, we once again pass our training area, and we dare promise that those hills that looked so enormous and scary the first few days will have shrunk significantly.
Time flies when you have fun, and the adventure is over for this now. For some it is early transfer to the airport, others have the opportunity to enjoy the resort’s facilities and hopefully some sun and clear blue sky before it is time to take the flight home. Luckily, we have more tours you can join, so hopefully it won´t be long before we see each other again!
Flight to/from Faro/Algarve, dinners, riding gear.
Here you get answers of the most common questions about our Portugal tours. You will also find some facts and statistics that we collected since our first tours in 2012. If you have more questions, do not hesitate to contact us!
You must hold a motorcycle driver’s license for heavy motorcycle (A) and be able to safely ride your motorcycle on asphalt, apart from this you don´t need any experience! Each season we have several participants who have just taken their motorbike driver´s license and who has never been riding on gravel or offroad before the tour. A full day offroad rider training is included in the tour and throughout the week you will get constant feedback from our tourguides. We also have the opportunity to spit into two or three groups according to previous riding experience. We also adjust the length of the tours and have the possibility to take shortcuts if you run out of energy during the days.
Absolutely! Because we split into several groups, we have the opportunity to adapt to all different experiences. The area we ride in offers everything from easy smooth gravel roads to serious offroad stages and hills so steep that even our most experienced tourguides almost lose their breath. Tougher challenges than what we offer during our ADVANCED ++ tours should not be undertaken with a big adventure motorcycle. We never had a participants who did not think that the challenges was enough, even for experience motocross and endure riders.
Most of our participants join our tours on their own, so you will not feel alone! After a week you have a whole bunch of new friends and some of them you will definitely keep in touch with!
About 80% of our participants are from Sweden & Norway, the others from Denmark, Finland, Estonia, UK, USA, Netherlands, Dubai, Kuwait etc.
Of course you should! In fact, about half of our participants are returning customers. Our tourguides will be extremely happy if there are returning customers since there has to be new roads and challenges found for them! We have participants who have been with us in Portugal both three and four times, there is no better start of the season, and you also meet new travel buddies every time.
Saturdays are arrival/departure days. You can arrive early or late as we arrange transfer several times during these days.
